Sona email copy. 1: square or 3:4, prints made. between 20 and 36in. You just want the painting. 2: Any size or dimensions. You want an image unique to you (artist still owns the image rights, but no prints will be made). I also have two separate pricing structures; a more accessible structure for someone who wants a painting of a particular flower, and doesn’t mind if there are prints made of the painting. And a higher-end structure for someone who wants a painting and an image developed just for them. Level 1 is refundable (contract type 1). Level 2 isn’t (contract type 2).

Thank you so much for reaching out, and for the lovely compliment! I'd be happy to create a Red Princess tulip painting for you.

Thank you for including such specific information about what you like, and for including the photo. Were you wanting me to use that exact photo, or is that just an example of the flower? Either path works - I always start by making some digital drawings to determine the exact composition and color palette, so that we are both clear on the direction of the painting before I begin. Those 3 original paintings are already sold, but I could make you paintings that are very similar to the 3 originals (as a commission).

My price for 36x36in is $4000 USD. This price includes either 1) US shipping on its bars or 2) International shipping in a tube. It is possible to ship internationally with the painting still on its bars, but the shipping price become quite steep (over $1000 more). The only caveat with shipping in a tube is that the painting needs a full month to cure before shipping, so that the surface is stable before rolling.

1. Let me know if you'd like me to use the exact image you sent with the multiple flowers, or if you'd prefer a singular flower like the hibiscus. I like to make sure that we are on the same page about the flower before signing a contract. Timing: the drawing process takes 1-2 weeks, the painting process 6 weeks, plus the month to cure, and another couple weeks to ship, so about 3.5 months from start to arrival.

2. I'll then send you a simple contract that fully explains the process.

3. Half of the payment is due upon signing the contract, and the other half is due before shipping. I process all of my payments through Stripe, which takes international cards. I do all my payments through Stripe’s payment processor, which accepts credit card and bank payments (including internationally). I typically take a 50% deposit to start a commission, and the other 50% is due before shipping.

If you are interested in pursuing this further, I can set us up a brief Zoom call (no cost / no pressure) to go over further details and answer other questions!

1. Timing-wise, my process is relatively complex, and I only send the paintings off when they are really excellent. So, they take anywhere from 2-4 months from signing the contract to delivery (depending on size). I like to tell people this up front, in case you have a close deadline you are planning around.

2. My commission pricing is as follows, and is all-inclusive (all materials, packing, and fully-insured shipping). In-between and rectangular sizes are available!

5. If/when you are interested in moving forward, I recommend that we have a brief chat by phone or Zoom (free of charge), so I can get a sense of what you are looking for (color palette and style, etc). If we both feel good about the project after that call, I'll send you a contract to sign. I use a contract so the project is clear for both of us from the get-go. A 50% deposit is due upon signing contract, and remaining 50% is due before the painting ships.

Honestly, if you are open to embellished prints instead of actual paintings, I would go with those embellished prints! They are *perfect* for someone who wants a large, hand-made work, but who doesn't necessarily want to commission a painting.

Commissioned paintings are great if you want a specific flower, want your "own" image, or are a texture junky with paint. Otherwise, I honestly recommend the embellished prints. They of course don't have the texture of a painting, but they have the same intensity of color, luminosity and liveliness that the paintings have, since all of my attention gets to go into the top layer of color. They are a great value in that sense. The embellished prints are also "collectible" in that folks tend to buy more than one (sometimes at once, sometimes over time) ... and they look super good hung next to each other!

I don't mean to down-sell the paintings of course, the prints are just really nice in person, and it's easier for me to get them to a really beautiful state, since I'm just focusing on that top layer. The paintings are joyful in their own way, but they are also a beastly amount of work to make from scratch, especially at the larger sizes, hence the price tag.

Also, are you considering this as a holiday gift (timing-wise)? And, are you within the US? Typically the commissions take a couple of months, but I think we could make it happen as a holiday gift as long as you are in the US.

Thank you for finding me and for writing! I’m so glad you enjoyed my work in the show. And yes, I can absolutely do a similar commission.

You may have already seen my website, but if not, here is a link to the page that outlines my commission process: www.sarahhoule.com/florals

If you are interested in moving forward, I recommend that we have a brief chat by phone or Zoom (free of charge), so I can get a sense of what you are looking for (color palette, style, etc). If you would like to schedule this, just respond to this email with some days and times that work for you. My free window is generally 11am-6pm PST (day of the week is flexible).

Here are a few more details:

If we both feel good about the project after our Zoom/Call, I'll send you a contract to sign to get the process started. I use a simple contract so the project is clear for both of us from the get-go. A 50% deposit is due upon signing contract, and the remaining 50% is due before the painting ships.

Price for a 36x36in is $4000 USD all inclusive (packing, shipping within the domestic US, and all materials). This is the size that was on the show, and is my most commonly requested size. But, if you have a different size or shape in mind, I’m happy to send other prices as well (for example, I've done a 60in square floral, and I am currently working on a 42x56in rectangle floral).

If you are in California, sales tax will be added on top of this (only in California). If you are outside of the domestic US, shipping will be an additional fee (around $200 more for the 36in size, depending on location).

Timing-wise, my paintings are relatively complex - I use photos as references, but I invent the rest of the image and colors, and I only send the paintings off when they are really excellent. So, they generally take about 4 months from signing the contract to delivery. I like to tell people this up front, in case you have a close deadline you are planning around.

Thanks again, and let me know if you have any questions!

Anything I should put here form contract?
